On November 18, 2024, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland certified a class of over 23,000 Amazon warehouse workers at three separate facilities asserting claims for unpaid wages concerning time spent undergoing exit security screenings between November 18, 2018 and March 31, 2020. A copy of the Court's decision is available here. The Court also ordered that a notice be sent to each of the affected members of the class. As part of the Court’s decision, it certified a question to the Maryland Supreme Court for a decision as to whether the doctrine of de minimis non curat lex applies to claims brought under the Maryland Wage Payment and Collection Law and the Maryland Wage and Hour Law.
